Welcome to NRG Kids

This blog is designed for kids, parents, and volunteers to get more information on the exciting things that are happening with NRG Kids. We are very excited about what is going on and where we are headed as a ministry. Please take a few minutes to celebrate with us what our God is doing. A special thank you to the many volunteers that make all of this possible. You are being used by God in more ways than you can imagine!

Jesus Calms the Storm

Big Idea: Life goes up; life goes down; but God's love is still around!

Matthew 8:27

The men were amazed and said, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!"

The elementary kids heard the story from Matthew chapter 8 of Jesus calming the storm. They learned that storms come suddenly, studied the stark contrast of Jesus peace and the disciple's fear, and celebrated the power of God over any storm that comes our way. Talk with your kids about specific storms they might be facing and how God's power is over that storm.

Ages 3- 4

Big Idea: God watches over us when we are scared

Psalm 121:5a
The Lord Himself watches over you!

The kids heard the story of Daniel interpreting the king's dream found in Daniel 2:1-3, 14. They learned that God watches over us even though we can't see Him. How can your family help each other when you are scared?
5 - K
Big Idea: God wants us to pray when we're in trouble
I Thessalonians 5:17
Never stop praying
The kids heard the story of Daniel facing death and still choosing to honor God and pray three times a day from Daniel 6:16-23. They discovered that God wants us to pray when we're in trouble or afraid. What troubles can your family give to God in prayer?

Rejoice in the Lord!

Big Idea: Rejoice in the Lord

Verse: Luke 11:9
Ask and the Lord will hear you

In Kiddie Clubs this week preschool children learned about Isaac being born to Abraham and Sarah. This miracle brought much rejoicing and praise of an almighty God. Teach your child to rejoice at home by making a drum together out of an oatmeal can and rice. Have fun singing and praising and rejoicing in the Lord.

Giving

Sup Wit Sunday?

Big Idea: God's Deal is a Great Deal!

Romans 10:15

And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

The elementary kids heard the importance of giving as a part of church and what we do on Sundays. Giving is a part of being a good steward, offering worship to God, and obeying God's commands.

God is Amazing!

This Week in Kiddie Clubs...

Bible Point: God is Amazing!

Luke 11:9

Ask and God will hear you

This week's Bible story was from Genesis 18:1-19:29. The preschool children heard the story of Abraham and Sarah entertaining strangers. These strangers confirmed the promise that God would give them a son. God is truly amazing, and He keeps His promises!

At home with your kids: Make a family tree while discussing God's faithfulness in your family. Encourage your children to thank God and worship Him for the many amazing things that He does.

Response

James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
The word of God is like a mirror for our lives. Kids were reminded to not just listen to what it says but to respond in obedience to God's word. Just like we look in a mirror to make adjustments to our appearance, we need to look at the Bible and make adjustments in our lives and what we do.

Big Idea: Don't just listen to it, but do it!

Preaching and Teaching

Butter and Peanut Butter
Sup Wit Sunday
So why do we preach and teach?
1 Timothy 4:13
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

During Kids Clubs on Wednesday night, the elementary children were reminded of this week's verse and big idea. We have been talking about everything we do on a Sunday and why we do it. Preaching and teaching are a major part of NRG Kids because the God's word is central to transformation. With preaching and teaching, kids hear about God. They learn more about His character and nature. They also hear from God.

2 + 2 = 4, but God's word will teach you more

Kids Clubs are a great way for kids to learn more about God and have fun at the same time. This semester there are clubs for Cooking, Junior Leadership, Karate, Junior Bible Quiz, Survival and the Outdoors, Sister Power, Art, and Scrapbooking. Winter semester is quickly approaching. If you are interested in being a part of the Wednesday night Kids Clubs, contact Pastor John. 360.352.3410 or jmiller@evergreenchristian.org

God Knows Everything!

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart

In Kiddie Clubs last night, the preschool children heard the story of Abram's covenant with God. We talked about God knowing how many stars are in the sky. The kids have been learning about trust in God. What a lesson to learn at such a young age! These kids are really coming to know who God is and what He can do in their lives. They are memorizing God's word. It is so fun to see them growing together in their knowledge of God.

Talk with your kids during the week about God's special plans for them. Use every opportunity to celebrate the knowledge and power of God.

Kiddie Clubs take place on Tuesdays (McCleary) and Wednesdays (Olympia) for ages 3 to Kindergarten. It is exciting to see what God is doing! Our vision is to have quality and interactive clubs for the preschool children. If you are interested in being a part of this amazing opportunity, contact Pastor Alicia. 360.352.3410 or afear@evergreenchristian.org

Celebrating Fallapalooza

This year NRG Kids had two different Fallapalooza events, and they were both amazing. On October 24th, the Friday before Halloween, NRG partnered with the Annual Bear Festival Committee in McCleary. The merchants of the city opened their doors for kids and handed out candy from 4 until 6 pm. Then the kids and families came to ECC and enjoyed hot dogs, nachos, balloons, carnival games, face painting, and free pictures until 8:00. The amount of families that attended this event was amazing for a small community. Thank you to the Bear Festival Committee for partnering in this safe and fun time for families! And thank you to all of the volunteers that gave time, energy, and resources to make this possible! So many kids and so many smiles...it is all about building relationships and connection in the community. More and more people are finding out what ECC is all about. We are definitely seeing an increase with the amount of kids coming on Sundays and Tuesday nights. Thank you for your faithfulness in reaching out to the families in this area.
Last Friday night, October 31st, hundreds of kids and parents enjoyed Fallapalooza on the Olympia campus. We had music playing outside from God's Truck along with four different creative and interactive trunks. Starbucks provided coffee and hot apple cider for drinks, which everyone appreciated. There was popcorn and cotton candy for snacks, two different inflatables to play on, and seven carnival games. Thank you to FOS Small Group leaders and Pastor Dan and Pama Olson for running the games. There were so many smiles as kids were going through and getting candy. Thank you to everyone that gave in the special offering for candy last Wednesday night. It made a huge difference in the amount of candy we were able to give out! Thank you to the junior high leadership class at ECS for making the signs. We seriously cannot thank our volunteers enough. You guys are all amazing! We had people running the inflatables, drink and food stations, parking, and even volunteers that helped with security and crowd control. There was also face painting, a clown, and free pictures printed out on the spot. Thank you to Chris and Deborah Mobley for traveling all the way to Olympia to help with the pictures. Overall Fallapalooza was an amazing success in showing love to our city.
We give all of the glory to God for both of these events and the connections that were made during them. It is exciting to see what God accomplishes in the lives of families when so many people give of their time and energy with events like Fallapalooza.
